About How does the american cable TV work

How does the american cable TV work?
Hi, I'm in Pittsburgh for my cousins Wedding and I need to know how to get Syfy on my TV. Also is Cable like Freeview back in the UK? I don't really get this.

Syfy may or may not be available at you cousin's. It depends on which cable package he subscribes to from his provider. If he does have it, you have to look thru the guide available by pushing "guide" on the cable remote and scroll the channels till you find it, then put that number into the box and see if it comes up. Don't know anything about Freeview, but cable is not free here.

About All that hard work down the drain

All that hard work down the drain? (NHL)?
For Pittsburgh and New Jersey....work all season for that home ice and lose it so quickly (although Philly is at home in Newark). Is home ice really that big of an advantage in the NHL?
Hockey - 11 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
lol. Devils never had an home ice advantage, poor them. Pittsburgh lost a tough one, sucks for them. I think in hockey home ice should really be an advantage since the crowd can get in the head of the opposite team and help out the home team. If your a focused team than it doesn't matter where you play.
2 :
First off these are the first game of each series. If the Pens and the Devils win 4 in a row this is worthless to talk about. Hockey is about ups and downs. Home ice does make somewhat of a difference but not much.
3 :
Hockey in Newark is a joke! I got $40 tickets for row three upper level seats for game five and it was $80+ for upper level seats at the Wachovia Center so a bunch of us have decided to make the two hour trip rather than spend the valuable extra $40+! As for home ice advantage, as of late it has really meant nothing. If you look at the last two Stanley Cup games Detroit won it in Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh won it in Detroit. Personally I believe it is really a case of what team wants in more? I think the East is a giant upset waiting to happen it wouldn't shock me if all of the lower seeds won out over the higher seeds. Home Ice Advantage is really just a fancy way of saying we get to sleep in our own homes tonight but that's about all.
4 :
That's how the playoffs go. In Pittsburgh's case it's 4 versus 5, so it shouldn't be that shocking. As for Jersey, I've always believed they were 1-dimensional and fragile. I'm not surprised. Philly will probably win that series. The Devils have no offense. You can only rest on your laurels so long once the other team figures you out. Home ice is an advantage but it doesn't guarantee anything.
5 :
I don't think so, at least not across the board. Maybe certain matchups will work out like that, but the NHL teams are so closely matched that HIA isn't as important as it once was.
6 :
Not anymore with today's cookie cutter arenas. Back in the days of the old arenas it was more of an advantage as the arenas were different. Now the only advantage is last change and the hometown crowd that can quickly become a disadvantage if you get down early. Maybe like the shootout (where the home team can chose to shoot first or second) the team with home ice advantage should be given the option of starting on the road and doing a 2-3-1-1 series (2 on road 3 at home, game 6 on the road and game 7 at home) Pens could be in big trouble given Ottawa's dominance at home. Fleury still looks shaky (not that many shots on goal in either game)
7 :
Presumably the 4th and 5th seeds are pretty evenly matched so that might be a good way to approach your question. In the last 10 seasons the 4th seed has won 13 out of 20 first-round matchups (+15%). One game is about 15% of a seven game series so maybe it means what it's meant to mean eh?
8 :
I think that really depends on the team and their situation. I mean... say Calgary made the playoffs, they had one of the best road records, yet one of the worst home ones. So if they did make the playoffs this year... perhaps you can say the road is really their best friend. I think the same goes for alot of teams. Obviously a hostile building can potentially drain your energy and swing momentum to the home club... but at the professional level I think these guys have become pretty good at countering that. It's funny you mention this because I was also thinking about the 'advantages' of home ice today. I think that unless the team in question has a history of winning at home and a clear distinction between home vs away records... I reallly don't think it makes a world of difference.
9 :
I think it only matters when you get deeper into the playoffs. But it's not like it ever means the whole world in playoff games period though, like it could in a basketball game. It means something--just not everything, later on.
10 :
I'd be a lot more worried about San Jose...I mean, their collective sphincter wouldn't pass air at this point and they might be able to turn a turd into a diamond. Holy jeebus. I mean, how much of a "must win" is game 2 now? NJD seems the bigger worry (over PIT) because of the "we've seen this before"...they overwork Brodeur and he's 7 years older than he was in 2003 when NJD last won the Cup (and haven't gotten out of the first round for a few years). PIT-OTT...too soon to tell.
11 :
(didn't read any answers) I really think that it is. especially in the third and final "rounds". it's not the crowd, but more: - choosing your matchups (lines, faceoffs) (big gap) - sleeping in "your own" bed - facilities intangibles i still think that you have to be able to win on the road though, to advance. otherwise, don't be surprised when you're golfing early.

About How does AFC NFC broadcasting rights work

How does AFC NFC broadcasting rights work??
I live in Pennslyvania, and the local CBS channel always broadcasts Steelers(AFC) games on sunday afternoon. But sometimes when they play an NFC team they don't get the rights to broadcast. Is it when the steelers(AFC) play away at NFC or is it when an NFC team comes to Pittsburgh to play. I forget how it works. Can someone help clear this up for me because it appears that the 49ers at Steelers game is not being broadcasted by our CBS affiliate . Instead its the Jets-Dolphins game. Thanks in advance
Football (American) - 4 Answers

1 :
Fox gets the rights if the NFC is the away team. And CBS gets the rights if the AFC is the away team. *This doesn't apply to Sunday or Monday Night, or Thursday Night Games, or the Super Bowl.
2 :
When the Steelers play a AFC team the game is on CBS. When the Steelers play a NFC team at the other teams field the game is on CBS. When the Steelers play a NFC team at home the game is on FOX.
3 :
If the road team is an AFC team, CBS has the rights and if the road team is a NFC team, Fox has the rights. This doesn't count Sunday night or Monday night games.
4 :
I live in ny so I see it all the time. The visiting team in an interconference game is televised on its home network.ie:giants at an afc team appear on fox which is the nfc network. So in your case the 49ers are away at an afc team so the game will not be televised on an afc affiliate it will only appear on a fox network.

About How does the spread point work in betting

How does the spread point work in betting?
Like for example if I bet on the Pittsburgh Steelers who are -3 against the Chicago Bears and if I bet on New York Giants who are +3 against the cowboys.

San Francisco -5 vs. St. Louis 41 You may look at that and be intimidated and feel helpless, but I’m going to decode this little bugger for you. This is the betting line…not the odds. The odds are what you are going to be paid (covered later). When ever you see a team with a (-) number next to them (-5 in this case) that means that team is favored to win by that margin…5 points. The number after the matchup (41) is the projected total points to be scored by both teams added together. So there are two options here. A player can choose to bet on the matchup either San Fran -5 points, or St. Louis +5 points. For the player who wagers on San Francisco -5, San Fran must win by more than 5 points for this to be a winning wager. For the player who wagers on St. Louis +5, they must either win the game, or lose by less than 5 points for this to be a winning wager. If the outcome falls on the number, either way, the bet is declared a “Push”, and your original stake is refunded. See, that wasn’t too difficult was it? Sometimes you will see the points displayed as half numbers like San Fran -5.5 If you bet on San Fran and they win by 6..you win. If they win by 5 or less…you lose. Clear? You will find a complete explanation of a sports betting tutorial for new sports bettors at http://www.Sportsbook-Ratings.net/sports-betting-for-newbies
2 :
If you bet Steelers -3, then the Steelers MUST win by MORE than 3 points for you to win your bet. If the Steelers win by exactly 3, then you get a push. (You don't win or lose.) If the Steelers win by only 1 point or by 2 points, OR if the Steelers lose or tie the game, then you LOSE. Similarly with Giants +3. Now, however, if the Giants LOSE the game by exactly 3 points, you get a push. If the Giants win the game, you win. OR the Giants could LOSE the game by 1 point, or LOSE the game by 2 points and you would still WIN your bet. The only way you can lose that Giants +3 bet is if the Giants lose by 4 points or more.
3 :
Very easy to answer. Don't remember any of these rules. Listen. If the Cowboys are -3, then its simple. Take the final score of the game (For example) Cowboys: 24 Steelers: 22 And with the final score, you simply do what the point spread says to do. Since the Steelers say -3, then you subtract 3. Simple. The new score is now: Cowboys: 21 Steelers: 22 The Steelers won the game in the eyes of the bet you made, and you would lose your bet. If the adjusted score would of made it a tie ball game, then you would simply get your bet back, and it would be like no bet was ever made. And of course, if the Steelers still had a higher score after you adjusted it, you would win your bet and make money.

I don't know about Pittsburg, but I can tell you that Bankers Life and Casualty is an excellent company to work for.
2 :
I worked in the 'burgh for years. It's a really tough market right now. Bankers Life is calling, because they'll hire about a thousand life guys in any area - in a hotel room interview - and if one or two succeed, that's great. It's straight commission sales. Now, they're a fine company, but life insurance sales is just like that. Are you breathing? Fine, you're hired. And if you can't sell, well, no skin off our back, because you pay your own licensing fees.

About Approx how much would it cost to have central AC put into a house without existing duct work

Approx how much would it cost to have central AC put into a house without existing duct work?
I know there are TONS of variables that will affect the cost. It's a medium sized 4 bedroom house in Pittsburgh PA, built in 1918 with 3 smallish additions on the 1st floor. Want to cool the first floor (2 bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom) and the second floor (2 bedrooms and one bathroom). I just looking for a very rough estimate/ballpark figure. Thanks!

You've got it right! No one can give you even a ballpark figure., Get 2-3 estimates
2 :
As another poster has indicated, your best bet is to seek the assessment of a local AC contractor in your area to get the actual local going rate in your area---as the cost of labor and material varies by location. Fortunately, there are plenty of local AC contractors seeking to give free estimates with no obligation, and taking advantage of this is the consumer-smart way to go about finding an accurate answer to your question. A local AC contractor can easily assist you in this project of yours. If you negotiate well with the contractor and he buys the materials (i.e., the AC, etc.) for you, you may try to have him pass the discounted cost of the materials to you in exchange for giving him the installation job, as usually contractors get discounts (called "contractor's discounts" / "contractor's price") when buying from suppliers because of the many purchases they make as required by their jobs.. Getting free estimates from local AC contractors is the key to your success in this home improvement project of yours. Here's a great link to a handyman site that offers free very resourceful information to assist you in your project, and, ultimately, selecting a local AC contractor in an effort to have you get treated fairly by the contractor: Info on AC contractors: http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_Free_Estimates_AC.htm I'm sure you'll find the information you need, specifically the tips, useful as it relates to being treated fairly by contractors and exploring the consumer-wise approach of getting free written estimates to find the best contractor in your area. . Source(s): The Internet. Just whatever is available online and what I have on my mind, including the inclusion of relevant sites, like the one cited that came about from my efforts, which is intended to be useful. Helping people get the relevant info they want is great.

Be prepared for a week long process. First you sing in front of a handful of producers. If you make it pass them, you sing for executive producers. If you're lucky enough to get pass them, you get to sing for the famous judges. Most likely you wont make it a week, because they don't neccessarily go for talent until the last round with the judges. Good luck and hopefully this helped!

I am thinking of moving back to Pittsburgh from Florida. Where can I find a good job.?
I am originally from the Pittsburgh area, and I am ready to move back, but I need a job. I have a BA in English/MA in Adult Education. My work background has been eclectic. I am currently a project manager, but I've worked as a writer, technical writer, manager, and teacher. I have a secret clearance from doing contract work with the DoD and Homeland Secruity. Dan can you believe how lousy the work environment is in Florida "the right to work law state with a plantation mentality" I have been here 10 years now & over half that time NO job NO income! I came here with a job and had it stolen right out from under me via union nepotism, three months after signing on a mortgage. The quality of life here has been horrifing for me! Good luck in your job search! I am moving up North in April to be employed!

i think you should look for a future not a job. wouldnt you like to be in a career that you can work from anywhere and never have to worry about where you are? i say this because i meet many people who want to relocate and cant becuase they need a job (which by the way stands for Just Over Broke) and i meet many who how forced to relocate to a place they dont want to be because of a job. well i have found the solution to this it is called ... NIKKEN they are one of the best companies, if not the best one out there for a variety of reason. they belive in what they call the 5 pillars in life HEALTHY mind, body, family, society and finances). there is no get rich quick scheme and anyone that tells you can make MILLIONS very quickly is just looking to take your money and i can assure you very few poeple even get there initial investment back. Network marketing can work and be proitable if you work with the right company and are willing to put the time and effort in to be successful. if you want more info feel free to send me an email and i will be happy to direct you accodringly. in the meantime i wish you the best of luck.

Medical Discount Plan ideal for those who cannot afford or qualify for traditional health insurance. The companies offer discounted health services for a quite low monthly fee. Benefits include a range of discounts for doctors, hospitals, dental, vision, prescriptions, vitamins, as well as other health services. Individual & Family Health Plans This is a major health insurance plan for individuals and families. If you are looking for comprehensive long term health insurance coverage for yourself and/or your family members who are 62 years old or younger - this is the plan to choose. Short Term Medical Plans This plan is ideal for individuals in transition. Maybe you have just graduated from college and are no longer covered under your student health insurance or you moved out on your own, and you're no longer covered under your parents' medical insurance plan. Or perhaps you're employed part-time, going to school, leaving home for the first time, or even retiring early. Maybe you've found a new job, but your new employer's group health insurance plan won't kick in until you've been with months. Common situation you met like many other people,be patient, and check the resource here    www.HealthInsuranceFree.info    i found very useful for me to solve my similiar problem.

Hi Here is the cheapest site for health insurance, I know.I saved 30%.Most of the other sites that offer discount are actually scams. http://EliteHealthIns.com Hope that was helpful for you

About Looking for work after giving up on being a financial adviser

Looking for work after giving up on being a financial adviser?
I graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with a Degree in Economics wanting to solve everyone's financial problems. After finding out that being a successful adviser has nothing to do with your knowledge of economics or securities I have decided to look elsewhere for a rewarding career. I worked for Morgan Stanley and NatCity Investments in my short 4 year career and am now trying to figure out other positions that utilize the same knowledge but without the sales aspect. Any suggestions would be great!

Try Vanguard in Valley Forge. They are a great company to do business with and don't sell. They don't have to.
2 :
You and 50,000 others laid off from Lehman Brothers and the rest. And you are right, an economics degree has nothing to do with helping people solve their financial problems. It has more with being able to anticipate the train wreck of inflation about to hit us from the bailout. Really, a career with this sort of experience is a sales job and I would suggest if you are in Pittsburgh (home of Friday Night Improv in one of my favorite buildings, the Cathedral of Learning )and still have a job, just stay with it for a couple years until all the out of work people in New York have been absorbed. And keep a current resume on monster.com Don't quit until you actually have something else going as the job market for financial people is going to be tough for a while. Consider seeing if PPG, US Steel, UPMC, Alcoa and the like have positions for economists, as they are in Pittsburgh anyway.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA. I want to attend a nursing school but, I can't afford to pay tuition. I heard that some hospitals will pay your tuition if you agree to work for them for a certain amount of time. I don't want to be stuck at a hospital for like 8 years.
