About How does AFC NFC broadcasting rights work

How does AFC NFC broadcasting rights work??
I live in Pennslyvania, and the local CBS channel always broadcasts Steelers(AFC) games on sunday afternoon. But sometimes when they play an NFC team they don't get the rights to broadcast. Is it when the steelers(AFC) play away at NFC or is it when an NFC team comes to Pittsburgh to play. I forget how it works. Can someone help clear this up for me because it appears that the 49ers at Steelers game is not being broadcasted by our CBS affiliate . Instead its the Jets-Dolphins game. Thanks in advance

Fox gets the rights if the NFC is the away team. And CBS gets the rights if the AFC is the away team. *This doesn't apply to Sunday or Monday Night, or Thursday Night Games, or the Super Bowl.

When the Steelers play a AFC team the game is on CBS. When the Steelers play a NFC team at the other teams field the game is on CBS. When the Steelers play a NFC team at home the game is on FOX.

If the road team is an AFC team, CBS has the rights and if the road team is a NFC team, Fox has the rights. This doesn't count Sunday night or Monday night games.

I live in ny so I see it all the time. The visiting team in an interconference game is televised on its home network.ie:giants at an afc team appear on fox which is the nfc network. So in your case the 49ers are away at an afc team so the game will not be televised on an afc affiliate it will only appear on a fox network.
