Well, since I don't live there I can't give you exact places. BUT, there are some places you can try... You can babysit- which is most obvious. There are also places that have summer tutoring that are always looking for new tutors with decent grades. As well, there are fast food restuarants who are usually always hiring. Also, maybe there is a skating rink in your town that needs workers? Try looking at your newspaper wanted adds.

i USED to live in pittsburgh, and i'm not sure which area of pittsburgh you're looking to work in....so i'd be rambling off places forever since there's no pinpointed area. do you mean downtown? some fast food joints will hire you, some restaurants will hire you as a dishwasher, you can babysit, or walk dogs. your best bet is to call around - or even see if your parents know anyone, that's how i got my first couple jobs...my parents knew business owners that hired me to work.

I don't live in Pittsburgh, but here are some suggestions: Fast food restaurants: Pros: Okay pay, easy to do. Cons: They are great, but all that grease clogs your pores! I know it sounds weird but my friend once worked at Burger King and her skin got all nasty just from working the cash register. She said that you pretty much eat the food they give you every day you work there, and that all adds up. She also gained 5 pounds. Once in a while is okay, but I wouldn't work there. If you're going to work at a fast food restaurant, work at Chick Fil A. Clothing Stores: Pros: Employee Discount! Cons: You spend your paycheck in the store. Babysitting: Pros: Good pay, not a constant job Cons: The kids could be crazy! Absolutely crazy! I once had a job where the little boy kept throwing things at me. So I gave him a time out and he told his parents I invited friends over and took away all his toys. Convience Store/ Market: Pros: Pretty easy Cons: Some of those people are really mean! Tutor: Pros: Helping people and good pay. If you want to be a teacher later on, this is best for you. Cons: Frustration! If you get mad easily, this isn't the best job for you. Regular Restaurants: Pros: Tips! Really good tips if you smile a lot. Cons: Mean people. Some of the people who go into there are really mean! Well there's some of the places I or my friends have tried doing. Good luck finding one! Oh, and pick a job like what you want to be later on in life. Like if you want to do something with animals, walk dogs. And if you want to be a teacher, tutor someone. A stay at home mom? Babysitting.

About I work at a small family owned business in Pittsburgh, PA in an office of about 20 people

I work at a small family owned business in Pittsburgh, PA in an office of about 20 people. ?
Of the 20 people about 5 of them smoke. The office is a relatively small area, so everyone must deal with the smoking of these 5. I want to know if the recent passed smoking bans in Pennsylvania also count for small businesses? And if so what action can be taken to get regulation for say designated smoke areas?

They smoke in the building??? who does that anymore? Im not sure on the laws (even though im in pittsburgh too) But i do think their are regulations--i mean you have rights as a human being that if you do not want to be around it--you don't have to be! that isn't fair for you to have to breath that and smell like that! I would definitly look into it! Good luck! LOOK AT THIS http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/state/s_597487.html

In the local afternoon free paper Trib PM available in boxes all around the city, there was an article last Friday about bars that were exempt and places that just ignore the new smoking ban law; they are being written up and with fines pending.
